With every generation, we are becoming less aware of our natural surroundings; our connection with nature is eroding. Tom believes we must actively and intentionally protect this treasure and encourage the next generation to be wildlife enthusiasts, observers, protectors, sportsmen and artists.
Our vision is to create a wetland with its own water source, diverse upland game cover and woodland. The site will clean water, slow run off and protect the soil. This eco-friendly, self-sustaining system would serve as an example for others wanting to sustain nature’s balance. Here, the terrain teems with wildlife. Water and soil are protected. Special accommodations make it easy for everyone—children, individuals with disabilities and others—to observe wildlife, practice ecology and hunt. Here too, aspiring artists photograph, study and receive support from experienced wildlife artists.
Working with others to create this space in Iowa, our goal is that Tom will locate his studio on site and share his passions and gifts with visitors. Ultimately, the project will be donated to preservationists who will continue to inspire generations to come.
