A lifelong observer of wildlife and avid conservationist, Tomas Miller’s wildlife art virtually transports onlookers into scenes found deep within nature.
Tom’s upbringing was modest, which likely contributes to his humble, unassuming demeanor. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, where his parents died before he was age 16; his older brother (Kim) and sister (Diane) finished raising him. Tom attended Roosevelt High School. Ironically, Tom’s art teacher gave Tom a failing grade because he felt Tom’s art was not abstract enough. That provided just the motivation Tom needed to begin painting with such remarkable life-likeness that others would later deem his work award-winning.
Today Tom spends as much time as possible in wetlands and natural environments photographing waterfowl, upland game and fauna, and then translating those images into treasured pieces of art.
